Samsung today has announced that the company is expanding its 2024 television line by introducing another 98-inch 4K model. The new DU9000 which retails at $4,000 is the newest TV in the brand's budget-friendly Crystal series of LED-backlit LCD 4K TVs.

The DU9000 is able to be offered at a lower price point primarily due to its use of traditional LED backlighting, as opposed to the mini-LED technology utilized in the QN90D, which features a higher number of local dimming zones to enhance contrast and brightness. The QN90D incorporates advanced image processing and quantum dots to boost brightness and expand the color spectrum albeit at a higher cost.

As television screens grow larger, the pixels also increase in size, which can impact image clarity. To address this, the DU9000 integrates Samsung’s Supersize Picture Enhancer technology designed to improve picture quality on large screens by minimizing pixel distortion and enhancing sharpness.

The television supports HDR10+ high dynamic range (HDR) and operates on the updated 2024 version of Samsung's Tizen OS smart TV platform. This latest iteration offers a new layout and allows for the creation of multiple user profiles, providing tailored recommendations and a more personalized viewing experience for each household member.

Additional features of the DU9000 include AI-enhanced 4K upscaling, three HDMI ports (including one with eARC capability), and several gaming-oriented features such as a 120-Hz refresh rate, Game Bar mode which supports wider aspect ratios for a better gaming experience, and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for reduced input lag. This model also features Samsung’s Q-Symphony technology, which enables the synchronization of the TV's audio with compatible Samsung soundbars and wireless speakers.
