Amazon Music is introducing a new AI-driven playlist feature called Maestro, which is currently in beta for a select group of users in the US on both iOS and Android platforms.

Users who have access to the beta will find the Maestro feature on the home screen once they update their app to the latest version. The feature can be accessed by tapping the plus icon to create a new playlist.

Maestro uses natural language processing to allow users to generate playlists based on a wide variety of prompts including sounds, activities, emotions, and even emojis. For example, Amazon suggests that users could request a playlist featuring songs that match the robot emoji, which may include tracks reminiscent of Daft Punk.

Despite its versatility, Maestro is still in the testing phase and may not always respond perfectly to every prompt. The company has also implemented measures to block offensive language and inappropriate requests.

Amazon plans to gradually expand access to Maestro. Currently, Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can listen to, save, and share playlists created by Maestro. Prime members and those using the ad-supported free version of the service can preview 30 seconds of playlists before deciding to save them.
